Macrogen Inc. (hereinafter “the Company”) shall comply with the personal information protection regulations of relevant legislation that an information and communication service provider must comply with, such as the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, Etc., the Personal Information Protection Act, the Protection of Communications Secrets Act, and the Telecommunications Business Act, etc., and the Company shall share where and how the personal information provided by the customer is used and what is being done to protect it.

The Company shall notify any amendments to the Personal Information Treatment Policy through its website (or individual notification).

1. Personal Information Collected

First, when the customer registers for the first time for membership, consultation, service application, etc., the Company shall collect the minimum amount of required and optional personal information as follows:
- Required items: ID, password, name, school/institution, college/division, department/team, name of the professor, mobile phone number, telephone number, e-mail address, billing e-mail address, address, invoice issuing place
- Optional items: Other affiliations, fax number, second e-mail address, third e-mail address, payment-related requests, registration channel, importance, major interests, purpose of use of sequencing results
Second, the following information may be automatically created and collected in the course of service use or business processing:
- IP address, cookie, time and date of visit, records of service use
Third, the following information may be collected only from service users who use their IDs to apply for optional services, events, and ordered product delivery
- Orderer information (name, e-mail, phone number), delivery information (recipient’s name, address, contact number)

2. Purpose of Collection and Use of Personal Information

The Company shall use the collected personal information for the following purposes:

A. Fulfillment of contract related to service delivery and bill settlement following service delivery

Providing contents and certain customized services, goods delivery or sending invoices, etc., self-authentication, purchase and fee settlement, fee collection

B. Member management

Providing membership service, customer service such as complaint handling, etc., sending notifications, confirmation of intention to cancel membership

3. Retention and Use Period of Personal Information

After the purpose of collection and use of personal information has been achieved, the Company shall destroy the relevant information immediately without exception. However, the following information shall be retained for the specified period due to the reasons stated below:

A. Information retention due to relevant legislation

The Company shall retain member information for certain specified periods when there are reasons to retain them due to the regulations of relevant legislation such as the Commercial Act, the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc., etc. In this case, the retention is only for its purpose of storage and the period is as below:
- Records of Canceled Contracts or Orders, etc.

Retention Period: Five years
- Records of Customer Complaints and Dispute Settlements
Reason for Retention: Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc.
Retention Period: Three years
- Records of Website Visits
Reason for Retention: Protection of Communications Secrets Act
Retention Period: Three months
※ The customer has the right to reject the collection and use of personal information. However, if rejected, service use may be subject to restrictions.
